The War, Revelation 12:7-10

This post concerns the war between God and Satan, Revelation 12:7-10. “…war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back…defeated, and…no longer any place for them in heaven…the great dragon…thrown down, that ancient serpent…called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—… thrown down to the earth…who accuses them day and night before our God.”

‘The War’ discusses the constant earthly fight that began after creation.

Satan spoke to Eve in the form of a serpent, Genesis 3:1. “He said… “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”

Eve replied that they were forbidden to eat of the tree in the midst of the garden. Then, Satan used a favorite trick. He lied, Genesis 3:4. “…the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.”

Eve believed the lie and fell into sin.

The Devil also accuses peple before God. God asked Satan if he had considered righteous Job. Satan then denounced Job, Job 1:10. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has on every side?

God then allowed Satan to destroy Job’s possessions and children. But Job remained faithful. Then, Satan again accused Job, Job 2:4. ““Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life.”

Job remained faithful.

Visual temptations such as evil women in idol temples and naked women lure many such as King David into sin.

The New Testament has both positive and negative warnings about Satan, Ephesians 6:11. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may…stand against the schemes of the devil…” and 1 Peter 5:8. “…Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

Today, we must be careful to understand and ward off the constant attacks of Satan.

So, what did we learn?

1.In our lives, we see a war between God and Satan.

2.Despite the many temptations, we must remain true to God and not fall to temptations.

3.Satan lies to tempt people.
