Miracles Peter Did, Acts 9:32-43
This post concerns the miracles Peter did.
Miracles Peter Did discusses the work of this apostle in converting people. Accordingly, it was the habit of the apostles to go among the Jewish disciples, no doubt, to encourage and strengthen them. As of yet, no Gentiles had been converted, Acts 9:32. “Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.”
Then, when Peter went from Jerusalem to the town of Lydda, he found there a paralyzed man, Acts 9:34. “And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed.”
Immediately, Aeneas experienced healing. This encouraged many of the residents of Lydda and Sharon to turn to the Lord.
Lydda was about twenty or so miles northeast of Jerusalem and only ten or so miles southeast of the seaport town of Joppa. A disciple named Dorcas lived in Joppa, Acts 9:36-37. “Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity. In those days she became ill and died,”
She was well-known for many good works and acts of charity for the local widows. Since Lydda was near, the disciples sent for Peter, Acts 9:38. “…the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Please come to us without delay.”
However, usually the apostles did not raise people from the dead. But when Peter came, they took him to the upper room where the body of Tabitha lay. Widows were also present showing all the things she had made for them. Peter put everyone out, prayed, and said “Tabitha, arise.” she immediately rose. This miracle caused many to turn to the Lord.
Peter remained in Joppa for many days.
So, what did we learn?
1.Peter healed a paralytic, Aeneas.
