Problems and Helps, Psalm 3
This post concerns problems and helps in times of trouble.
Problems and Helps discusses how we feel when troubled and how God helps and relieves our concerns, Psalm 3. “O LORD, how many are my foes!
This shows how we feel in times of trouble—foes everywhere! These enemies against God claim that God cannot help. When we get to the point that we imagine God will not or cannot help us, we need to rethink God and His power. God has helped in times past and can continue to help despite what foes say.
When we pray, God hears. Therefore, our thinking should change. …But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill.
Thus, in times of trouble, think of God as a shield of protection. Further, He lifts up our heads and comforts us. We can become more confident that, with God’s help, we can conquer these enemies that do not give God glory.
In the early hours of the morning, we can sometimes mistakenly think that God has abandoned us. But the scriptures teach us otherwise, I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.
When we go to sleep, we do not have a guarantee of awakening. But despite our enemies, God cares for us.
God takes care of our foes and sustains us. Thus, God blesses his people.
Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. Salvation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people!”
This psalm has notable lines We should commit to our memory: ‘a shield about me’ and ‘the lifter of my head.’
