The Omniscience of God, Psalm 147:5

This post concerns the omniscience of God.

‘The Omniscience of God’ describes God’s unlimited mental ability as described in Psalm 147:5. “Great…our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.”

In addition, a similar verse describes this superior knowledge, 1 John 3:20, “…for whenever our heart condemns us, God…greater than our heart, and he knows everything.”

This unlimited ability includes knowing the end of things at the beginning, Isaiah 46:9-10. “… I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,”

Secondly, consider the gigantic, mental decisions required during creation.

All the stars, the planets and the moons had to be placed so that they would not smash into each other. The earth, for example, had to occupy a place farther away from the sun so that any future life would not burn up. If located too far away, any future life would freeze. From the human standpoint this represents a miracle.

So, consider the decisions made for the earth. The amount of land needed will allow future rain to fall and descend into the seas. But the number of seas should not fill up and rise to cover all the land. Thus, we see how the unlimited knowledge of God designed the earth.

Also, consider the mental decisions needed for the human body created for man. The oxygen of the air provided energy for movement. The food eaten should somehow flow in a blood system to all parts of the body for life to continue unabated.

The Apostle Paul expressed amazement as to how God did it all, Romans 11:33. “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!”

Truly, the omniscience of God appears everywhere.

The omniscience of God should compel modern man to worship such an all-knowing and unlimited God.

So, what did we learn?

1.God’s mental ability remains unlimited.

2.Modern man should worship this God of unlimited mental ability.
