The Basis, Genesis 1:1

This post concerns the basis for belief.

The Basis discusses reasons for belief in God, the Bible, and Jesus.

The Basis shows that God intends for us to understand His role, Genesis 1:1. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”  God then shows that He designed everything. Thus, this design proves that God exists and created everything.

Consider the earth in our solar system—not too close to the sun so as to burn up or too far away to freeze.

Then, consider the ecosystem of the earth. Rivers continually dump water into the sea. Yet, water never covers all the land. The blood system of the human body transports food to the cells along with necessary oxygen and transports CO₂ to the lungs for expulsion. Such super-design demands a super-human designer—God.

Also the Bible explains how we should live to please God and illustrates God’s word, because over 300 prophecies came true. Since only God can prophesy, these prophecies prove that the Bible makes up God’s word.

The Bible was written over a 1600-year-span in three languages by about 40 different people. It contains a single theme—the salvation of the soul. Only God could accomplish such unity.

Note, the Bible claims to come from God, 2 Timothy 3:16-17. “All Scripture…breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

In addition, the Bible describes Jesus as Deity—the Son of God. He did miracles, raised the dead, and fulfilled the prophecies about Himself. Conclusive proof of His divinity concerns the open tomb. He was crucified and then resurrected.

Thus, the tomb became empty, Luke 24:1-3. “…they went to the tomb… when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.”

Thus, proof of the Deity of God, the Bible, and Jesus as the Son of God provides the basis of Christianity.

After faith, baptism makes one a forgiven Christian, Acts 2:38. “Repent and be baptized… in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins,”

So, what did we learn?

1.God created everything.

2.The Bible comes from God.

3.Faith in God, the Bible, and Jesus comprise the basis for Christianity.
