Jesus Knows, John 2:23-25
This post concerns Jesus knowing the minds of men.
Jesus Knows discusses Jesus’ ability to know minds and what that means to us, John 2:23-24. “Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.”
These verses show that Jesus was omniscient and could read the minds of people. This characteristic proves His Deity.
The Jews constantly looked for a way to oust the Romans. Anyone who could do miracles would have found himself welcomed in that gigantic task.
However, later they were easily persuaded to abandon their faith in Jesus, Matthew 27:20-23. “Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.” Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him … crucified!” And he said, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let him…crucified!”
This incident and Jesus knowing about the minds of men generates a question. What about us? Jesus has not lost His Deity. He knows about us and the thoughts of our minds. He knows the level of our faith.
King Solomon warned about God’s knowledge of us on the Judgment Day, Ecclesiastics 12:13-14. “The end of the matter…Fear God and keep his commandments, for this…the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.”
So, what did we learn?
1.Jesus knows the content of our hearts.
2.Jesus’ omniscience proves His Deity.
3.Everything will appear on Judgment Day.
