Teenage Fornication, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
This post covers teenage fornication.
Teenage Fornication discusses how to stop adolescents from having sinful sex.
Sex by adolescents comprises a rampant problem in our country. Unfortunately, some of these fornications occur by our children in our families. What steps can we take to stop this problem?
Firstly, one of the main things to do constitutes teaching the young person to believe and respect what the Bible says on any and every subject. Sexual immorality represents one of those subjects.
Fornication or sexual immorality, the term used instead of fornication in newer Bible translations, must then appear to our teenagers as a transgression against God. He says ‘no,’ so I will not do it.
On sexual immorality, consider 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8. “For this is the will of God… that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God…because the Lord …avenger in all these things…For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore, whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God,”
Joseph understood this principle. He resisted the advances of Potiphar’s wife, Genesis 39:9 and said, “How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?”
The parent should therefore emphasize passages such as the above to their children and explain how sexual immorality becomes a sin against God.
Secondly, in instructing the adolescent about God, three areas appear important:
- the omnipresence of God. We cannot hide anywhere or sin where God does not see it.
- The omniscience of God. He knows everything we do. When we sin, God knows it.
- The omnipotence of God. He has the power to provide eternal punishment for sin.
Therefore, God knows about our sins and will punish us.
Thus, if the teenager respects God and the Bible, these lessons will guide them away from sins such as sexual immortality.
So, what did we learn?
1.Teach our children when they are young to know and obey the commands in the Bible.
2.Sexual immorality constitutes a sin against God.
