#23 Question: So, will your team win the Super Bowl?

At this time of the year, many pick the Super Bowl winner. Will it be your team? Even the playoff games toward the Super Bowl are stirring widespread interest.

The Bible predicts a far more exciting and important time than the Super Bowl. Jesus gave it a name, Matthew 12:36:

“I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,”

We often refer to that time as the Judgment Day. Everyone will be present, Matthew 25:31-33:

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.”

Jesus will put everyone into either the saved group or the lost group. Those saved will go to heaven, Matthew 25:34:

“… inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”

This is because of what they did for Jesus—they fed Him when He was hungry and thirsty, welcomed Him as a stranger, and visited Him in prison. The saved asked, “When did we do this to Jesus? He answered that when they did it to those in need, they did it to Him.

The wicked will be sent to hell because they did none of these deeds to Jesus. He explained that when they did not help the needy, they did not help Him.

As we contemplate the Super Bowl, we need to evaluate ourselves. Are we ready for the Judgment Day? Surely, we will resolve to help the needy in this new year of 2024.

Never mind who I think will win the Super Bowl. Am I ready for the Judgment Day?
