Personal life, John 4:7-16

This post concerns what we would tell Jesus about our personal life.

Personal Life discusses Jesus’ talk to a woman at a well. Weary from travels, Jesus sat at Jacob’s well. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, He asked for a drink. The woman acted surprised since the Jews did not talk to Samaritans. Jesus turned the conversation to spiritual matters by telling her He could provide her with living water. She asked where He could get the living water. Jesus responded that whoever drinks of His living water would not thirst again.

Immediately, the woman asked for this water. Jesus then asked her to bring her husband. She said she did not have a husband. But Jesus knew her situation. She had had five husbands and was not currently living with a husband.

So, this brings a question to us? How would we respond if Jesus asked us a personal question?

For example, are we in our first marriage? Jesus said, Matthew 19:6. “What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”

What else would Jesus say?

Consider your thinking and speaking. The Apostle Paul wrote, Philippians 4:8. “…whatever… true, whatever… honorable, whatever… just, whatever…pure, whatever… lovely, whatever… commendable, if there…any excellence, if there… anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me— practice these things,” What would Jesus ask about our thoughts and speech? Like with the woman at the well, Jesus knows how we think and speak.

Also, what about our attendance at worship services? We are commanded to assemble, Hebrews 10:25. “… not neglecting to meet together…the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Where am I Sunday morning?

So, what did we learn?

1.Jesus knows about our personal life and how we are.

2.Marriages are important to Jesus.

3.Jesus knows our thoughts and speech.

4.We should worship every Sunday.
