No Condemnation, Romans 8
This post is about no condemnation for those in Christ.
No Condemnation discusses what the Apostle Paul meant, Romans 8:1. “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Those in Christ achieve that status in baptism, Galatians 3:27. “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
Paul continues to describe this condition.
He first says that all sin, Romans 3:23. “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” Then, he says that being in Christ means we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as we await the glorious resurrection of the saints. Those in Christ become heirs of eternal salvation with Jesus awaiting at the right hand of God.
In summary, Paul questions in Romans 8:31, “What then shall we say to these things?” Then, he lists four questions.
1.“If God is for us, who can be against us? v. 32
2.“Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? v. 33
3.“Who is to condemn? v. 34
4.“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? v. 35
Furthermore, in answering these questions, consider the nature of God: omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. God gave His Son to bring about this condition of being an heir of God. Who would doubt that He would give His children a home in heaven?
Also, since God justifies the saved in Christ, who can challenge what He has done?
Thus, Jesus, crucified to pay the price for sins, now sits at God’s right hand and intercedes for His fellow brethren.
Specifically, to answer number four, Paul lists seven things that come upon us in this life that we might imagine would separate us from the one who gave his blood for our salvation.
In summary, no one can separate us from the love of Christ.
Finally, Paul adds, Romans 8:37. “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Then, he lists ten things Satan might throw at us that cannot separate us from the love of God in Christ.
Also, to achieve this elevated status, we need to ascertain our baptism into Christ.
So, what did we learn?
1.Baptism puts us into Christ.
2.’In Christ’ finds God and Jesus helping us to go to heaven for eternity.
