The Bible and OLD AGE #36 … Why Should I pray for Church Unity?

Older people frequently have experienced the agony of religious division where they worshipped. As the years have passed, the pleas for religious unity have diminished. Jesus’ prayer for unity among His followers in John 17:20-21 hasn’t changed. He gave an important reason— “that the world may believe that You have sent me.” We should pray for unity because Jesus commanded it and the reason is still applicable today.
