What does THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE mean? John 8:31-38

Jesus said if you abide in His word, you would be His disciple. True disciples would know the truth about being a slave to sin and be set free by believing and obeying His word. This means that obedience to Jesus’ words would provide forgiveness and freedom from the consequences and slavery of sin. His audience denied being in slavery to sin, and claimed to be offspring of Abraham. Today freedom from sin is available by obeying Jesus’ word.
