How does John explain the LIVING WATER from Jesus? John 7:37-39

Jesus offers living water, v. 38, and bread of life, Jn. 6:48. Both were spiritual offerings, not literal food and drink. Here John explains clearly, v. 39, that living water refers to the Holy Spirit that believers would later receive. This was fulfilled when the apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:3-4, but repentant, baptized believers were given the gift of the Holy Spirit, v. 38, clearly the salvation promised by Jesus.
