How does Jesus explain His knowledge without formal study? John 7:14-19

The Jews were surprised because He didn’t teach like a rabbi. (Jesus didn’t cite rabbinical authority, Matt. 5-7—see “I say to you”—and see 7:29.)  Jesus explained that His teachings were from God, v. 16; Jn. 3:34, and those who did God’s will would know that His teachings were from God, v. 17. Yet, they weren’t doing God’s will since Moses taught “thou shall not kill,” and they wished to kill Him.
