Why tell the apostles about FUTURE TROUBLE? John 16:1-4

Jesus told the apostles about future problems they would encounter to keep them from being discouraged when hatred and persecution came. Jesus prophesied that they would be put out of the synagogues and even killed. In Acts 7:59-8:4 Stephen was killed, and Saul ravaged the church. Then the apostles could remember that Jesus had prophesied such events and their faith would be strengthened that He was the Son of God.
