What is the meaning of the ‘NEW COMMANDMENT?’ John 13:33-35

Jesus is talking about the time when He has gone back to heaven, v. 33. They are to love one another with a special emphasis: as He had loved them. They were about to learn the meaning of that love by seeing Him on the cross for the sins of the world. This intense love would mark them to the world as His followers, v. 35.
