God’s Glory Luke 2:13-14
This post explains God’s glory exhibited in the New Testament.
‘God’s Glory’ depicts how the glory of God appeared in the New Testament. God’s glory appeared in the form of a cloud in the Tabernacle and the Temple. In the Old Testament, God dwelt among His people. In the New Testament, God’s glory appeared at Jesus’ birth, Luke 2:13-14.
“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace…”
Then, Jesus’ life reflected this glory, Hebrews 1:2-3. “…but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things… He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.” Thus, during Jesus’ life He reflected God’s glory.
Likewise, the New Testament church offers a second medium for the glory of God, Colossians 1:26-27. “…revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery… Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Thus, those saved ‘in Christ” or as members of the church glorify God.
Also, Jesus described His work and the cross as giving glory to God, John 17:1; 4. “… he lifted up his eyes to heaven… “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you…
…I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.”
Likewise, eternity will be filled with the glory of God, Revelation 21:9-11. ““Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God…,”
Thus, the Saints in the beautiful, holy city as saved people can see the glory of God throughout eternity.
Once again, God will dwell among His people.
So, what did we learn?
1.Jesus and the church provide glory to God.
2.In eternity, heaven and the holy city provide glory to God.
