#21 Question: Whatever happened to 2023?
Yes. It is that time of year again—to reflect on the good and the bad of 2023—to resolve to do better in 2024. Many people are making resolutions for 2024—to lose weight, exercise regularly, stop a bad habit, become more spiritual. An excellent resolution would be to read the Bible every day. The Bible describes what it will do for you, 2 Timothy 3:16-17:
“…you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
Note that the scriptures can Equip You for Every Good Work.
Whatever good thing you want to do in 2024, the Bible will supply the inspiration and information to accomplish it. Want to help a loved one become a Christian? The Bible will explain how to do that and what it means. Want to have more meaningful worship? The Bible will show you the five essential acts of worship and how to spiritually do them.
Further, God will be pleased because you are using His word for its intended purpose.
Here is the way to make Bible reading a part of your every day: 1. Find and follow a program of reading. For example, read a chapter each day of the work week. 2. Set a time in your schedule to read and make it a habit at that time of day.
The answer to the question posed in the title is that 2023 is gone. You cannot change it. But you can make 2024 a great year by resolving to read the scriptures daily.
